New Standard for Intelligent Compact Shelves GB/T 47490—2026Issued on Apr 30, 2026, officially implemented on Nov 1, 2026.Affiliated with SAC/TC480. It specifies safety protection, intelligent control, environmental monitoring, data collection and inventory positioning requirements, applicable to archive, library and warehouse intelligent compact racks.

Revised Standard for Steel Storage Cabinets & Racks GB/T 28200Approved in July 2025, final approval by end of 2026, replacing old version GB/T 28200-2011.Key updates: enhanced load-bearing safety, structural stability, anti-corrosion coating and harmful substance limits; added electrical safety and EMC regulations for smart storage racks.

Furniture Instruction Regulation GB/T 5296.6—2025Enforced on Feb 1, 2026, replacing the 2004 edition.Mandatory marking requirements: maximum load capacity, installation warnings, harmful substance content and product recycling notes. Electronic user manuals are required for all e-commerce sales of storage shelves.

Ongoing Green & Safety Standards

· GB/T 39692-2020 Green Product Evaluation-Furniture: In 2026, core thresholds include recycled material ratio ≥25%, VOCs ≤30mg/m³, formaldehyde ENF level ≤0.025mg/m³.

· GB 18584-2001 Wood Furniture Hazardous Substance Limits: Mandatory inspection on formaldehyde, heavy metals and VOCs for wooden shelves in 2026.

· GB/T 27924-2023 General Technical Specifications for Warehouse Racks: Industrial racks must pass 1.5 times static load test, layer plate deflection ≤1/200 and grade 7 seismic resistance test.

II. Major Industry Policies 2026

Mandatory Carbon Footprint DisclosureIssued by MIIT and MEE. Enterprises with annual revenue over 200 million RMB must disclose product carbon emissions officially in 2026. Industry carbon emission cap: ≤0.86 tons CO₂e per ten-thousand-yuan output.

Green Manufacturing Subsidies

· Equipment investment tax deduction up to 15% for products complying with warehouse rack and green furniture double standards.

· VAT refund policy for lightweight eco-friendly shelves valid till the end of 2026.

Furniture Old-for-New Replacement PolicyContinued in 2026. Maximum subsidy of 300 RMB per ENF-grade wooden shelf, coverage expanded to steel multi-layer storage racks.

Upgraded Environmental Emission RulesGB 27632—2025 Wood Furniture Industry Pollutant Discharge Standard fully enforced since Jan 2026. Requirements: water-based paint usage rate ≥85%, VOCs removal efficiency ≥90%.

III. Supervision & Industrial Trends 2026

1. Key market supervision inspection items: load-bearing performance, ENF formaldehyde level, coating heavy metal content and carbon label compliance.

2. Material upgrading trend: recycled steel/aluminum and FSC certified wood usage ratio raised to 25% in 2026.

3. Smart shelf compliance: must meet GB/T 47490—2026, GB 4706.1 electrical safety and GB/T 17626 EMC standards.

4. Export market access barriers: EU EPD & carbon footprint certification, American ANSI/BIFMA X5.9 standard and Japanese JIS S 1024 standard are required for cross-border shelf sales.
